Overview
O’Grady Construction delivered the groundworks and foundation package across seven factory process buildings for the ICT Papermill development in Deeside — a major industrial investment in North Wales and one of the most technically complex projects the company has undertaken.
Scope of Works
- Excavation, blinding, reinforcement, backfilling and concreting across six factory buildings
- Setting of holding-down bolts to precise tolerances
- Internal drainage and services installation
- Type 1 stone grading to ±10mm tolerance for slab pours
- Bulk muck-shift across a 10,000m² footprint for the seventh warehouse building
- Large overhead gantry foundations using a slide rail earthwork support system
Project Description
The project involved groundworks and foundation bases across seven distinct factory buildings, each with its own requirements and tolerances. For six buildings O’Grady carried out full excavation, reinforcement, backfilling, holding-down bolt setting and concreting, followed by internal drainage, services and stone grading to ±10mm tolerance.
The seventh warehouse building required a substantial bulk muck-shift and grading across a 10,000m² footprint, plus large overhead gantry foundations constructed using a slide rail earthwork support system — one of the most technically demanding elements delivered on site. The project was completed on programme and to specification.
